About iTop Screen Recorder

iTop Screen Recorder is an easy-to-use screen recording software with a light built-in video editor, which helps record every important and precious moment and edit the recorded video to make it perfect. It is a smart choice for recording video conferences, webinars, lectures, presentations, games, 4K films, etc.

The following guide will help you get familiar with iTop Screen Recorder quickly.

Download and Installation

1) Click here to download the latest iTop Screen Recorder.

2) Double-click the downloaded itop-screen-recorder-setup.exe to start the installation.

Uninstall

Windows 10:

Open Start > Click Settings > Click Apps on the Settings menu > Select Programs & features or Apps & features from the left panel > Find iTop Screen Recorder and click Uninstall > Follow the on-screen prompts

Windows 8.1 & 8:

Open Start > Click Control Panel > Select Programs & features > Find iTop Screen Recorder and click Uninstall > Click the Yes button when prompted to uninstall the program > Follow the on-screen instructions to remove the product from your computer

Windows 7 and Windows Vista:

Click Start on your taskbar and select Control Panel > Under Programs (Windows 7) or Programs and Features (Windows Vista), click on Uninstall a program > Select the product you wish to uninstall > Click Uninstall at the top of the program list > Follow the on-screen instructions to remove the program from your computer.

Windows XP::

Click Start on your taskbar and select Settings > Click on Control Panel > In the Control Panel window, click on Add or Remove Programs > Select the product you wish to uninstall > Click Change/Uninstall > Follow the on-screen instructions to remove the program from your computer.

Updates

Pro version users can always enjoy the latest version automatically with Automatically update to the latest version option ticked by default in Settings.

Free version users can manually update iTop Screen Recorder as below:

Click updates-options at the top right of the main screen and select Check for Updates to update.

Activation

Note: A valid license code is required to activate the Pro version. If you do not have a license code, you also click here to purchase a new one.

Click the Register icon register at the top right corner of iTop Screen Recorder main screen, enter your license code, and click the Register button to activate the Pro version. Visit here for step-by-step activation instructions.

License - After upgrading to the Pro version, you can click License under Options to check the detailed license information, Change or Copy your license.

Record Screen/Video

Step 1: Click Record Screen to record your screen into a video.

Please click the Record Screen iconscreen-icon to record the screen. You can click the drop-down arrow behind Full Screen to choose Select Region or Select Window to select a region or window to record. It also supports recording according to fixed ratio or recently used recording size.

Note: Record Screen feature is selescted by default after launch. If it is selected, please just skip this step.

Step 2: Set the settings for Speacker, Microphone, Mouse, and Webcam

In the middle of the main screen, you can easily set whether to record Speaker, Microphone, Mouse, and Webcam together with your video by clicking the On/ Off button. If you see N/A for some features, it means you don't have the related device installed or connected to your computer.

Step 3: Click REC to start the recording

Click the red REC button, it will start recording after countdown 3 seconds by default.

Step 4: Click the Done button or press F9 (for video by default) to complete the recording

When you want to complete the recording, you can click the Done buttonred-button2 in the floating toolbar or just press F9 (default hotkey).

Record Audio

Step 1: Click the music icon and set the settings for Speaker and Microphone as picture below:

Step 2: Click the red REC button to start audio recording.

Step 3: Click the Done buttonred-button1 or press F8 (default hotkey) to finish the recording.

Record Gameplay

You can record a game screen at any time when you play games. Please be assured that the recording will not affect the fluency of your game.

Step 1: Click the gamepad icon and set the settings for HUD, Speaker, Microphone and Webcam.

Note: If there is no game running on your PC, you will see No Games Detected and the REC button will be grayed.

Step 2: Run the game you want to record and then click the red REC button to start the recording.

Step 3: Click the Done buttonred-button2 or press F9 (default hotkey) to finish the recording.

Record at a Scheduled Time

Step 1: Click updates-options at the top right of the main screen and select Recording Schedule.

Step 2: Please click Add button to edit the recording schedule as per your needs including its name, start and end time, record region, and what you want your PC to do after the scheduled recording. Please refer to the picture below:

Note: You can set to Do Nothing or Sleep or Shut down after performing the scheduled recording.

Step 3: Please click Add to add the recording schedule after editing.

Note: Recording Schedule is only for Pro version users.

Run an Auto-ending Recording

Step 1: Click updates-options at the top right of the main screen and select Recording Schedule.

Step 2: Please click Run an auto-ending recording to edit the auto-ending recording as per your needs including recording duration, recording region, and what you want your PC to do after the scheduled recording. Please refer to the picture below:

Step 3: Please click Run Now to run an auto-ending recording from now on.

Note: Auto-ending recording is only for Pro version users.

Quick Launcher

Click Quick Launcher in the main screen to quickly open and record video from YouTube, Zoom, Twitch, Spotify, ESPN, etc.

Video Editing and Sharing

After you completed the recording, you can find the recorded videos in Videos area under My Creations. Right click the video, and you can see Preview, Edit, Upload, Rename, Delete, and Open File Location.

Preview: Click to play the video.

Edit: Click to edit the video as per your needs.

Upload: Click to share the video to YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, Facebook, etc.

Rename: Click to change the file name of the video.

Delete: Click to delete the video.

Open File Location: Click to open the directory where you save the recorded videos to.

After you click Edit, it will lead you to the editing screen as below. You just need to drag the red sliding bar to trim the video.

General Settings

Click the top right options icon options on the main screen, select Settings to open the settings for this program. You can configure each function as per your needs, and never forget to click Save to save the changes. Clicking Recommended can restore to default settings.

For general settings, you can set its language, updates and whether to load the program at Windows Startup.

Recording

Apart from selecting the directory to save the recorded videos, you can also configure settings for speaker, mic, and mouse actions. If you want to record speaker, mic and mouse actions in your videos at the same time, you just need to tick the related items here. For mouse actions, you can choose whether to add highlight effects and/or click animation.

iTop Screen Recorder allows you to back up your recorded files during recording thus you can restore files in case of system crashes, insufficient space, or power failure. Please refer to the picture below.

Countdown

By default, there is a countdown of 3 seconds before the recording to notify you be prepared for the recording. If you do not want the countdown, you can untick "Countdown before recording" under Record in Settings.

Floating Toolbar

The floating toolbar appears when the recording starts, if you have "Show floating toolbar" enabled under Record in Settings.

During the recording, a toolbar as below will appear on the screen providing you with various options including Pause, Done, and Screenshot to allow you to pause/complete the recording or take screenshots during recording. If you do not want to see this floating toolbar, just uncheck the settings mentioned above.

Watermark

iTop Screen Recorder allows you to record as long as you like without time limitations unless there are no enough spaces to save the recorded videos. Meanwhile, you can also record with/without a watermark as per your needs. To protect your videos from being copied, it allows you to customize your own watermark to your videos.

Note: The features No watermark and Customize are only available for Pro version users.

Webcam

iTop Screen Recorder also supports recording webcam overlay to your video, which brings you a better recording experience especially for recording gameplay or video conferences.

Besides, you can also set the webcam overlay position by dragging and dropping its icon to any corner of the recording window. To change the size of the webcam overlay in the recording window, you just need to move the slider bar.

Format

Multiple output video formats (MP4, AVI, MKV, MOV, FLV, TS, GIF, etc.) and audio formats (MP3, AAC, AC3, FLAC, WMAV2, etc.) are available for you to select.

For video, it offers options for you to set Size, Frame Rate, Bitrate, and Quality. For Audio, you can also set its Frequency and Channels here.

Hotkeys

For easier operations, iTop Screen Recorder provides the most frequently used hotkeys. Although the program has already set default hotkeys, you can still change them according to your own preferences.

Note: Do not forget to click Save button to save your changes.
